In this session, we will be continuing to explore the Pathways to Liberation Matrix practices that support the skill of Gratitude. We will be learning to find value in, appreciate, and enjoy what is.

This week we will explore the power of Gratitude. Discover how with appreciation and gratitude you can:

  • Support wellbeing, for yourself and others
  • Have more resources to manifest more of what
  • Lift depression
  • Increase self acceptance
  • Build self-worth

and build the resilience to navigate life, even in trying times.

……..

UNSKILLED: Focuses on what is missing and complains; uses and looks for validation through praise and reward.
AWAKENING: Noticing that the strategies of praise/rewards and external validation do not support connection; starting to notice the value in appreciating met needs.
CAPABLE: Willing and able to connect to, savor, and express the gift(s) in what is happening.
INTEGRATED: Lives in appreciation that everything can be a stimulus for enjoyment and/or growth.

In this session, we will be continuing to explore the Pathways to Liberation Matrix practices that support the skill of Flexibility in Relating in order to cultivate more openness and versatility in relating to others. Integrating this skill enables us to relate to others in a natural and authentic manner where expressions are attuned to the needs and styles of those involved and may not “sound like NVC language”.

……..

UNSKILLED: Habitually relates from a perspective of right/wrong, win/lose, “should”, “have to”, etc.
AWAKENING: Increasing ability to distinguish between life-alienated communication patterns and NVC. Reactive communication patterns continue. Formulaic, self-conscious expressions of NVC honesty and empathy; thinks NVC is OFNR.
CAPABLE: Willing and usually able to hear observations, feelings, needs and requests, no matter how they are communicated. Has started experimenting with “street giraffe”, to speak in ways that are more likely to connect.
INTEGRATED: Relates naturally with authenticity and empathy. Expressions are attuned to the needs and styles of those involved, and may not “sound like NVC language”.

Join us Monday for a deep dive into the skill of Beneficial Regret. This skill from Pathways to Liberation is the ability to acknowledge and learn from one’s missed opportunity to meet needs without guilt, shame, or self-punishment. Offered with compassionate giving and receiving gift economy. Join us and an international community this week as we explore and expand this skill for making life more wonderful. We will focus on practice, and optional opportunities to have conversations with others in small groups that can support connection and mutual learning. We will open the meeting 15 minutes early for connection and aim to start promptly at 6:30 US-PT to make sure we have the maximum of time for learning and practice. Those who would like can stay afterward for some community time. Feel free to forward this to friends.

From the Pathways to Liberation: Beneficial regret: Acknowledging and learning from one’s missed opportunity to meet needs, without guilt, shame, or self-punishment.

  • UNSKILLED: Takes responsibility for the feelings of others with guilt and/or shame, or defends oneself; apologizes to protect oneself by assuaging another’s feelings.
  • AWAKENING: Newfound awareness that others’ feelings are caused by their needs, and may want others to “get over it”. Heightened awareness of habit of self-blame.
  • CAPABLE: Increasing ability to transform guilt into learning. Fostering willingness to seek connection with others (with empathy and honesty) when events did not work for others.
  • INTEGRATED: Consistent willingness to openly own one’s part in outcomes that did not meet needs; willingness to feel and express regret; seeks learning and growth.

If you are like us, you wake up every morning looking forward to receiving blame and criticism. Just kidding. For most of us, the dread of receiving difficult feedback messages can be paralyzing, locking us into an internal demand for unachievable perfection. This week, we will explore becoming more liberated from the terror of feedback, and see that feedback is not only necessary but can be deeply transformative and connective.

Join us, Jim and Jori, and the community to find more ways to support yourself and others’ wellbeing, and get needs met with less costly ramifications. We are continuing our exploration of the Pathways to Liberation Matrix with Openness to Feedback. This skill entails receiving others’ perspectives about our actions with equanimity and centeredness.

  • UNSKILLED: Feedback means something is wrong or right with self or other. Feedback is interpreted as criticism or praise.
  • AWAKENING: Has desire to transform one’s own reactivity around receiving feedback.
  • CAPABLE: Understands that feedback from another is the other’s perspective and connects it to the other’s need; connects one’s own reaction to feedback to one’s own needs.
  • INTEGRATED: Receives feedback as information to be considered, with clarity of choice. Aware that others are speaking from their own perspective.

We will offer concrete skills and steps for practicing compassion and leadership in your life, focusing on learning and practice. You will have the option to meet with others in small groups that can support compassion and mutual learning, as we continue to explore ways to support integrating skills for making life more wonderful. We will open the meeting 15 minutes early at 6:15 pm US-PT for connection together, and aim to start promptly at 6:30 US-PT to maximize time for learning and practice. You are also welcome to stay afterward for continued community time. Feel free to forward this to friends.
